Director Mamoru Hosoda Unveils BELLE as Next Anime Film

It’s been a couple years since his last work, MIRAI, but we now know what’s next for acclaimed director Mamoru Hosoda. The official Twitter account for Studio Chizu unveiled BELLE—known in Japan as Ryu to Sobakasu no Hime, or The Dragon and the Freckled Princess—which is currently slated for a Summer 2021 premiere in Japan.
Little is known about the film at the moment, other than the fact that it will depict an online world known as U, where over five billion people gather from around the world. Studio Chizu will handle animation production, with TOHO releasing the film.
