New Pokémon Anime Film Hits the Nostalgia Mines with Mewtwo Footage

As previously reported, the 22nd Pokémon anime film is Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, and it’s set to open in Japan on July 12, 2019. Following up on the initial announcement, there’s now a teaser video and poster, both of which offer a peek at the full CG look of Mewtwo.

Longtime Pokémon anime director Kunihiko Yuyama is at the helm alongside Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within‘s Motonori Sakakibara, and screenwriter Takeshi Shudo is back from Pokémon: The First Movie to handle this 20th anniversary revisit.
