Touken Ranbu, the popular video game franchise about swords anthropomorphized as hunky guys, is getting a live-action film adaptation. It’s set to be released in 2019.
The film will feature many actors who have appeared the Touken Ranbu stage plays, including Hiroki Suzuki (Mikazuki Munechika), Yoshihiro Aramaki (Yamanbagiri Kunihiro) and Ryo Kitamura (Yagen Toushiro).
It’ll be directed by Saiji Yakumo (Ankoku Joshi) and written by Yasuko Kobayashi (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime).
Touken Ranbu has been adapted into two anime series: Hanamaru (2016) and Katsugeki (2017) as well as multiple stage plays. Here’s how Funimation describes Hanamaru:

In the year 2205, the past is threatened by historical revisionists who seek to change it.
