Paramount Nets Beyblade Live-Action Rights

Paramount is looking for another hit with Beyblade, the franchise based on spinning top toys that has made its way to manga, anime, and video games. The studio acquired the live-action rights, and will work on developing Beyblade into a feature film with Mary Parent producing through her Disruption Entertainment company.

The original toy line from Takara Tomy went international in 2002, and the corresponding manga by Takao Aoki ran from 2000-2003 in the pages of Shogakukan’s CoroCoro Comic. The three anime series based on the manga were Beyblade, Beyblade: V-Force, and Beyblade G Revolution, but those were just the beginning.

Next up for the property is a new generation of toys set for a 2017 launch.
