Viz to Stream Coppelion Anime

Viz Media announced plans to add a new series to its streaming lineup, with the simulcast of Coppelion set to kick off this week. The action series starts streaming on both Vizanime.com and Hulu this Wednesday, October 2, the same day it airs in Japan.

Coppelion is based on the seinen manga by Tomonori Inoue, which started serialization in Japan in 2008 and is still ongoing. The anime is directed by GoHands mainstay Shingo Suzuki, who also helmed K. New episodes will stream in North America every subsequent Wednesday, and Viz is celebrating Coppelion‘s arrival with the trailer below.

Viz’s synopsis:

COPPELION takes place in the not-so-distant future as a catastrophic event has turned the old capital of Japan into a wasteland, forever changing the lives of its people. Decades later, three schoolgirls set foot into the now forsaken city. They are the Coppelion, genetically engineered humans created by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces to operate under the lethal conditions of the contaminated city. Trained since birth, the girls must use all of their skills and resources to carry out their one and only mission: to rescue those left behind.
