October 7, 2009 That’s the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, the well-aged 1993 hit US take on Japan’s Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, and it’s coming to Saturdays on ABC Kids in January 2010. Joining the show will be a relaunching of the original toy line, as well, which means now-adult fans will be bugging their moms for dollar bills all over again (that includes me, I’ve already got my phone ready to dial home).
As the source post notes, this isn’t good news for the continuation of new Power Rangers adaptations stateside. Though I don’t keep up with the US versions any longer, it’ll be a real bummer if kids won’t be able to enjoy their very own take on this year’s Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, which, while I only saw about 10 episodes, is a lot of fun.
