One of many announcements at this year’s New York Anime Festival, held this past weekend at the Javits Center in New York City, FUNimation’s acquisition of Initial D covers the first through fourth stages of the mega-popular racing series, based on Shuichi Shigeno’s original manga.
Those stages include “Initial D First Stage,” “Initial D Second Stage,” “Initial D Extra Stage,” “Initial D Third Stage” and “Initial D Fourth Stage.” Interestingly enough, FUNimation will not be using the existing dub that was created by former series licensee Tokyopop, instead opting for an entirely new one across all stages.
As stated in their press release, the show will remain uncut with the original music intact.
