July 8, 2009 I remember playing an import copy of the first Kenka Bancho a few years back. Despite the language barrier, it was hard to resist the alluring quality of beating dudes up and shooting lasers at the butt of every passing schoolgirl. That barrier became a problem, however, when text-only choices would pop up on screen, so my time with Bancho was never meant to last.
Thankfully, the good folks at Atlus are finally bringing over an entry in the series no one thought would see the light of day in North America. They recently announced that they’ll be publishing the hand-in-pockets suave cool of Kenka Bancho 3 on PSP.
Fact of the matter is, a game called Kenka Bancho isn’t exactly going to pull in the wandering American eye, no matter how many lasers are firing out of those peepers. So Atlus is looking for a more appealing title, and have already proposed potential hits like Badass, Bancho Royale, and Badass Rumble.
UPDATE: Atlus has found its name! The game will heretofore be known as Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble.
Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble is slated for stateside release in early 2010. Check out the Japanese trailer below:
