Results: Everyday People Get “Astro-Boy’d” at Comic-Con

Regrettably, I wasn’t able to stop by Imagi’s booth, in which they exercised some clever methods of promotion for the upcoming CG feature Astro Boy film. The movie itself features the voice acting of Nicholas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Bill Nighy, Nathan Lane, Eugene Levy, and Freddie Highmore (playing the titular robot). David Bowers (Flushed Away) is directing, and Imagi themselves most recently brought us the hit CG take on TMNT (one of my favorites from 2007).

The promotion in question: spiky ‘dos applied to willing congoers in an effort to bring out their inner Astro. 75 attendees underwent the cosmically cosmetic procedure, and Imagi’s been showing off some of the results today. Here are a couple of prime hi-res versions of images enclosed in their press release, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself yelling “ASTRO!” while gripping the monitor feverishly.
