4th Princess Principal Movie Shares Opening Minutes

Princess Principal: Crown Handler

Friday marked the premiere of the fourth Princess Principal: Crown Handler movie, so now we have an even lengthier preview. Bandai Namco Filmworks shared the first seven minutes of the film, and you can see how it opens, sans subtitles, below.

Princess Principal: Crown Handler Movie 4 Preview

The first Princess Principal: Crown Handler movie hit Japanese theaters in February 2021, after the COVID-19 pandemic postponed its 2020 release. The second movie followed later that year in September. The third movie came out in April 2023, and the fourth opened on May 23, 2025.

This film was made at Actas with Masaki Tachibana back in the director’s seat. Ichirō Ōkouchi was the writer for the Princess Principal TV series, but this movie is written by Noboru Kimura, who also wrote the franchise’s OVA. The music is composed by Yuki Kajiura, whose credits outside of the franchise include Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero.

The opening theme song “LIES & TIES” is performed by Void_Chords feat. Yui Mugino, while the ending theme song “Nowhere Land” is performed by the main cast.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the movies and gave this description for the first one:

Princess Principal: Crown Handler Plot

Following the attempted assassination of the Queen, manhunts for spies become a frequent occurrence within the Kingdom. In response, Control — the Commonwealth’s covert operations group — begins to suspect the presence of a double agent within the Kingdom’s royal family. In order to reveal the truth, Control dispatches spy ring “Team White Pigeon.” But danger lurks around every corner, and when you don’t know who you can trust, being a spy has never been more perilous for Ange and the rest of Team White Pigeon.

Sentai Filmworks has also licensed the TV anime series that led up to these movies, and has released it on home video.
