Hip-hop Dance Manga Wandance Gets Anime Adaptation in 2025

wandance

Coffee’s Wandance hip-hop dance manga is the latest series to get an anime adaptation. A TV anime was announced for a 2025 broadcast via the official website and social accounts, with MADHOUSE and CYCLONE GRAPHICS set up to produce. K-Pop choreographer RIEHATA will be the dance producer for the series, with more info on staff and cast to come at a later date.

Beyond that, all we have to go on at the moment is the anime announcement illustration below, which is all kinds of stylish.

Wandance kicked off its run in Monthly Afternoon magazine in January 2019 and has been collected in 12 volumes to date, with roughly 900,000 copies in circulation at the time of this writing.

Kodansha USA publishes the series in English and sums up the story like so:

Wandance Plot

Kaboku Kotani is starting high school, and he plans to do what he’s always done: go along with his friends, keep quiet, and not to draw too much attention to himself. After all, it’s hard enough to get by with a stutter like his—why make things worse by standing out from the crowd? But then he sees another first-year, Hikari Wanda, dancing like no one is watching—or like she doesn’t care who sees her. It makes Kaboku wonder: Could he reach that same freedom? To find his way to Wanda, he does something he never thought he could: He joins the dance club. After all, every routine begins with a single step, right?
