Vertical to Publish NISIOISIN’s Kubikiri Cycle Novel

North American publisher Vertical is getting in on some more NISIOISIN action with the license of the Kubikiri Cycle novel. Vertical announced plans during its Anime Weekend Atlanta panel, and the first book in the Zaregoto series is currently lined up for an early 2017 release.

Here’s a synopsis from Del Rey, which released the first two Zaregoto volumes in 2008 and 2010:

It’s the vacation of a lifetime, a trip to a remote island filled with geniuses–and murder.

On Wet Crow’s Feather Island, a tiny speck in the Sea of Japan, lives Akagami Iria, the exiled daughter of a powerful family. Born into great wealth, she was a princess of the highest pedigree–until she was cut off by the leader of the Akagami Foundation. For the last five years, she’s lived on Feather Island with her maids. But she hasn’t been alone. She has invited the best minds Japan has to offer to come and stay with her.

The timing for this announcement is spot on, because Kubikiri Cycle is being adapted into an eight-part OVA series, with the first volume to launch in Japan on October 26. SHAFT animates the adaptation, which features Madoka Magica‘s Akiyuki Shinbo as chief director and Fuyashi Tou (Bakemonogatari) on series composition.
