The Darwin Incident anime adaptation was announced in May 2024, revealing plans to bring Shun Umezawa’s award-winning manga to the screen. At the time we didn’t know when to expect it, but now it’s been penciled in for a January 2026 debut.
With that news comes a fresh look at the adaptation, which has Naokatsu Tsuda (Tokyo 24th Ward) directing, Shinichi Inozume (Gleipnir) on series composition and Shinpei Tomooka (TRINITY SEVEN) handling character designs for the BELLNOX FILMS production. Fifteen years later, Charlie’s human foster parents are finally ready to send him to a normal high school, where he makes his first friend: a human girl named Lucy. In the meantime, however, the ALA’s stance has become ever more extreme, and now they’re here to drag Charlie into their terrorist plot…
