Thai Pop Group BNK48 Apologizes After Member Sports Swastika Shirt
One of AKB48’s spinoff groups is Thailand’s BNK48, which recently ran into some controversy. Just a few days before International Holocaust Remembrance Day, member Pichayapa “Namsai” Natha was photographed wearing a shirt emblazoned with a Nazi swastika during rehearsal.
Pictured above via ANN News, the incident quickly went international, and Namsai has since apologized.
Namsai issued her apology during a concert on Saturday, saying, “It’s my mistake and my ignorance.” She also apologized online via Instagram and visited the Israeli Embassy to do so in person along with BNK48’s COO.
