December brought news that the long-awaited Summer Pockets anime—which is in the works to adapt the visual novel from Key/Visual Arts—would air in 2025. Now that timing has been narrowed down to a broadcast premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 in Japan on April 7, with other stations to air it over the following days.
As previously reported, the anime will star Shōya Chiba as Hairi Takahara, Konomi Kohara as Shiroha Naruse, Natsumi Takamori as Ao Sorakado, Nene Hieda as Kamome Kushima, and Emiri Iwai as Tsumugi Wenders. All those actors are reprising their roles from the game except new addition Nene Hieda. Kushima’s original voice actor, Tomomi Mineuchi, retired from voice acting in 2022.
Tomoki Kobayashi (Akame ga Kill) is directing, with Keiichiro Ochi (Go! Go! Loser Ranger!) on scripts and Mai Otsuka (Non Non Biyori) on character designs for the studio feel. production.
The Summer Pockets game was released in 2018 in Japanese and 2020 in English. Here’s how Steam describes the game:
From the creators of Angel Beats! and CLANNAD, Key, comes their latest emotional, award-winning journey. Follow protagonist Takahara Hairi as he travels to the secluded island Torishirojima, where he rediscovers what it means to enjoy summer vacation.
