Summer Anime Endings That Will Have You Dancing

Dance along to this summer's upbeat anime endings!

While we may tend to think more of anime openings when it comes to the music of our favorite shows, anime endings hold a place in our heart, too. Some are nostalgic and heartfelt, while others are peppy and upbeat. We’ve noticed plenty of the latter in the summer season, and we’re showcasing a few here for you today!

Enjoy dancing cats, a wedding march, and one of many song covers by Sumire Uesaka. Which anime ending from the current season is your favorite?

Ramen Akaneko – “Honjitsu no Osusume”

Ramen Akaneko is a laid-back series about our dream restaurant: a ramen shop run almost entirely by cats. We say “almost” because a tiger makes the noodles and a human does odd jobs (including brushing said felines). And this adorable show has one of the summer’s most adorable anime endings: “Honjitsu no Osusume” by two-person band Rikon Densetsu.

The tune has a bouncy, retro feel, going along perfectly with the vibe of the show. The ending sequence itself shows little moments from a normal day in the shop, as well as a cute dance number. (Which, for all we know, could be part of a normal day in the shop as well.) It’s a sweet way to close out each episode of an equally sweet show.

Mission: Yozakura Family – “Wedding March”

Kicking off in the spring season, Mission: Yozakura Family has moved on to the second of its anime endings. And for a show that started with an impromptu common-law wedding, it’s an appropriate one: “Wedding March” by musical duo ASOBI Doumei.

As the second cour digs deeper into the darker parts of the story—from family secrets to genetic experimentation—it’s nice to have a reminder of the sweetness of Taiyo and Mutsumi’s relationship waiting for us at the end of each episode. Plus, we love those little Yozakura sibling puppets bobbing along throughout the ending sequence. (Yes, even Kyoichiro’s.)

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian – “Kawaikute Gomen”

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian knows exactly what side its bread is buttered on. The adorable rom-com stars voice acting idol Sumire Uesaka as Alya, a schoolgirl so tsundere she has to get bilingual about it. With a powerhouse star voicing a powerhouse anime girl, one ending theme just isn’t enough. That’s why the show has multiple anime endings: each featuring Uesaka as Alya doing a cover of a popular song.

So far, our favorite is her number for episode 2, “Kawaikute Gomen.” While the song is originally part of the HoneyWorks franchise Confession Executive Committee, it’s highly likely you’ve heard it in passing elsewhere. This adorable cover of the song is one of our favorite tunes of the summer so far, and definitely made us take notice when it started playing at the end of the episode.
