Street Fighter Movie Does Poorly, Surprises None

Opening weekend for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li has now come and gone, leaving the world at large underwhelmed and turning back toward the 1994 Street Fighter movie with renewed hope and appreciation. Unfortunately for Kreuk and co., Chun-Li raked in just under 5 million dollars, putting it behind such heavy-hitters as Madea Goes to Jail, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop according to Box Office Mojo.

I have to put part of the blame on myself, since I went back on my promise of checking it out over the weekend. I sincerely wanted to take in Chris Klein’s performance in as timely a manner as possible, but the world was working against me in sinister ways. I suppose this lackluster box office performance pretty much guarantees we won’t be getting a digitized-character-filled Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li: The Game, but a man can still dream, right?
