October 7, 2009 I don’t know about anyone else reading this right now, but I’ve always loved me some Shenmue. Sure, Yu Suzuki’s ambitious adventure— which only made it to two parts—wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but the people that love it, love it.
That makes Sega’s latest announcement a unique combination of fantastic and cruel. Ryo will be making a return after all these years, and he’ll be blazing in atop his trusty motorcycle and, better still, his race-ready forklift… only he’ll be doing just that in both.
His track riding is going to go down in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, which at least means that the good folks at Sega recognize his superstar status. That may not be enough to quench the thirst of dry-mouthed Shenmue fans, but maybe we can siphon a drop after a few spins in that forklift.
