The card-battling action of the Shadowverse anime—which is inspired by Cygames’s video game series of the same name—is coming back for more. The official website announced that production on the new TV anime, Shadowverse F (Flame), is now underway, with more information such as its broadcast timing to be revealed at a later date.
For now, a new teaser visual has made its way online.
This time around, Shadowverse F follows new protagonist Light Tenryu. Here’s what the official website has to say about him: “As the protagonist, Tenryu Light, and his friends grow through Shadowverse, you should be able to discover new charms of Shadowverse! Also, how will Dragneel, a new partner digital friend (Digifre), who newly joins this new series, be involved in Light and the story…!”
Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Dropout Idol Fruit Tart) is directing the new Shadowverse anime, with Rintaro Isozaki and Deko Akao on series composition, Daiki Harada on character designs, and ZEXCS on animation production.
The first Shadowverse anime aired from April 2020 to March 2021 for a total of 51 episodes. Crunchyroll simulcasted the series and sums up the story:
The hottest battle is about to begin! While attending Tensei Academy, Hiiro Ryugasaki ends up acquiring a mysterious smartphone. It comes installed with the popular card game, Shadowverse! Meeting new rivals, facing major tournaments, forging bonds with friends… Shadowverse leads Hiiro to all sorts of new experiences, all that serve to “evolve” him…
