Pokémon Legends: Z-A Trailer Shows Off New Multiplayer Battles

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Among all the excitement of the Pokémon Worlds event over the weekend, the folks behind the phenomenon revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game. Following the success of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, this one is due out on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 (with enhancements) on October 16, and it’s shaking up multiplayer with the new Battle Club feature.

The Z-A Battle Club is a four-player real-time battle system that has everyone attempting to defeat their opponents’ Pokémon for points. It can be played with friends linked or online, the latter of which will have competitive seasons and a ranking system.

Here’s how Nintendo describes the new entry:

Lumiose City—a home for people and Pokémon alike. Thanks to an urban redevelopment plan driven by Quasartico Inc., the lush greenery of verdant parks intermingles with facilities using the latest cutting-edge technology. A lot has changed here since the days of the Pokémon™ X and Pokémon Y games!

Choose Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile as your first partner Pokémon, and then set off on a grand adventure! Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free. As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z, and Team MZ, the crew that aims to keep Lumiose a peaceful place.
