Osamu Dezaki’s The Tale of Genji Promo Streamed

Here’s your blink-and-you’ll-miss-it item of the day. Try to keep your peepers peeled and you’ll bear witness to a 14-second announcement promo for the legendary director Osamu Dezaki‘s latest project, Genji Monogatari Sennenki Genji (The Tale of Genji: A Millennium-Old Journal: Genji). If you think you’re unfamiliar with Dezaki’s previous work, you’re probably not. He’s famous for directing classics like Aim for the Ace!, Ashita no Joe, Space Adventure Cobra, Golgo 13, and a bunch of Lupin III movies among many others.

Not content to simply adapt Waki Yamato’s Genji manga as originally planned, Dezaki will be pulling as much as possible from the original novel, which is roughly celebrating its thousandth year of existence. If anyone can make this old song sing even more, it’s Dezaki, and we’ll keep you posted if some longer video evidence surfaces soon.
