Orb: On the Movements of the Earth Anime to Run for 25 Episodes

More details are in for the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime, which just premiered in Japan and is coming to Netflix. The series will broadcast over two consecutive cours for a total of 25 episodes, and a new key visual is here along with the launch and episode count.

The latest visual features protagonist Rafal observing the stars, surrounded by Badeni, Jolenta and Oczy. Here’s how the official website describes the visual: “They are all from different backgrounds, ages, genders, and occupations. The visual expresses the grand and passionate story of this work, in which people who are fascinated by the beauty of the geocentric theory and who put their lives and beliefs on the line to prove it.”

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth is being made at Madhouse, with Kenichi Shimizu of Parasyte -the maxim– and All Out!! helming the project as director. The person handling series scripts is Shingo Irie, who is known for working on AFTERLOST. Credit for character design goes to Masanori Shino of Black Lagoon. The music is composed by veteran composer kensuke ushio, whose credits include A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, and The Heike Story.

Instead of starting with one episode, October 5 will see the release of the first two episodes. Afterward they’ll become available on Netflix.

In the fifteenth century, claiming that the Earth revolves around the sun was a heresy that could get believers burned at the stake. Child prodigy Rafal is introduced to the truth about the universe by his mentor, and then must flee when the Inquisition comes to mete out “God’s justice.” With only a peculiar pendant to guide him, will Rafal discover his master’s research, and can he and other believers set the world alight?
