If you thought the world of fungi had been unfairly overlooked in the moe personification department, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Oso’s Kinoko Personification Pictorial Book does just that, taking around 100 mushroom species and turning them into moe anime-style characters. The next stop for these adorable mushroom girls is a CG TV anime adaptation.
There aren’t too many details at the moment, but the adaptation, titled Mori no Yousei: Kinoko no Ko (Forest Fairies: Mushroom Girls), is currently slated for 2017. There’s also a smartphone game in the works. The original book, which features illustrations by Oso and supervision by Kiyoshi Iguchi, launched in 2014, and a new expanded version just hit shelves in Japan this month.
