Magical New Manga You Can Read as They Begin

Magic is brewing in these brand new manga!

We’ve seen a few new manga premiere in recent days, and some of them are downright magical! From witch boys to wizards in a war-torn world, the first chapters of these series are promising some major magical mayhem.

Join us as we preview a pair of magic-centric new titles. And if you still need more, we have a few suggestions for ongoing series you can binge, too!

Kai-hen Wizards

Kai-hen Wizards

A new manga in the Weekly Shonen Sunday lineup, Kai-hen Wizards kicks things off with a protagonist in seriously dire straits. He’s fully bandaged up, doesn’t know where he is… and doesn’t even know who he is. Taken in by a high-ranking wizard named Zemu, the boy struggles to remember who he is and what happened to him. But the answers will lead these characters into a terrifying struggle.

Kai-hen Wizards is the newest title from Kekkaishi creator Yellow Tanabe. In its first chapter, the series sets up an intriguing world of highly powerful elemental wizards and the people out to kill them. The art is absolutely gorgeous, ranging from aesthetically enchanting to visceral and terrifying (sometimes even within the same frame).

Ichi the Witch

Ichi the Witch

Magical boy fans unite! Ichi the Witch is a new manga in Weekly Shonen Jump, set in a world where highly-trained witches fight sentient magical energies known as Majiks. In this world, only women can wield magic… except for Ichi. This boy, who grew up hunting to survive, finds that he’s uniquely equipped to defeat an especially tenacious Majik.

Ichi the Witch hails from Osamu Nishi, the author of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun. The same mix of deep world-building, cool action, and adorable comedy is already at work in this new series, this time coupled with the art of Shiro Usazaki. This new series appears poised to bring a dose of lighthearted magical fun to the pages of the popular mag.

Still need more?

WITCH WATCH

Caught up to all the new manga and still need a dose of magic? There’s plenty to binge!

WITCH WATCH is 170 chapters deep, following the misadventures of teen witch Nico and her many familiars (most of whom are cute boys). And now is a great time to start reading, because an anime adaptation is in the works!

If you enjoyed the MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES anime, why not read the manga? It’s already run its course, including a recent bonus chapter, so you can enjoy Mash Burnedead’s school days at your leisure.

Still feeling magical? Read all about why we love WITCH WATCH!
