Based on the manga by CLAMP, the Magic Knight Rayearth anime is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In a surprise bit of news, TMS Entertainment announced that a new anime project is in the works to mark the occasion.
There aren’t any further details on the project, including timing, staff and cast, but you can see a teaser trailer and visual for the new Rayearth anime below.
The classic Magic Knight Rayearth anime is available on Blu-ray from Discotek Media and is streaming on Crunchyroll, which describes it like so:
Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki, and Fuu Hououji aren’t from Cephiro. While on a school field trip to the Tokyo Tower, the three girls’ minds are on anything but different worlds filled with magic and wonder. That is, until Princess Emeraude, the Pillar of Cephiro, cries out for the Magic Knights to save her world–and that just happens to be those three!
