There’s more Lupin the Third anime on the way on top of the currently-running TV anime. Nihon TV plans to air a new special called Lupin the Third: Italian Game on January 8, 2016. The two-hour special will be the first since November 2013’s Princess of the Breeze – The Hidden City in the Sky.
While setting out to rescue Rebecca Rossellini from a kidnapper, Lupin receives a challenge from a mysterious man known as The Masked Count. The target of the challenge is the inheritance of Count Cagliostro, though it isn’t clear whether or not it’s the exact same Count as that of the 1979 classic, The Castle of Cagliostro. Sure sounds like the shoe fits, though.
New cast includes Tsuda Kenjiro (Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!) as The Masked Count and Bin Shimada (Broly in Dragon Ball Z) as Count Cagliostro descendant Gaspare Balsamo.
