A bunch of new info made its way online for the Kinoko Inu anime, which is based on the manga by Kimama Aoboshi. In addition to a new teaser trailer and two visuals, the main staff and cast have been announced for the fall 2024 series.
Kagetoshi Asano is directing Kinoko Inu, with Jin Tanaka on series composition, Daisuke Endou on character designs and Akiyuki Tateayama on music for the C-Station production.
Daiki Kobayashi (Zoe Ivy in The Ancient Magus’ Bride) is in the lead as Kinoko Inu alongside Yuto Uemura (Atsushi Nakajima in Bungo Stray Dogs) as Hotaru.

The original Kinoko Inu manga ran from 2010 to 2022 in Tokuma Shoten’s Monthy Comic Ryu magazine The self-described heartwarming comedy follows picture book writer Hotaru Yuuyami, who finds himself devastated after the passing of his family dog, Hanako. Things take an unexpected turn when he discovers a strange mushroom creature growing in his garden.
Outside of the fall 2024 window, there’s no date in place yet, so we’ll have to stay tuned to find out when it lands and if anyone outside of Japan will pick it up for streaming.
