Remember those awesome Hungry Days commercials that imagined the characters of One Piece in a high school setting to promote Nissin Foods’ Cup Noodle brand? The director behind them, Yusuke Takase, is back with more, this time in an anime commercial promoting Nescafé’s summer drinks.
This one has Takase directing at anime studios FILMONY (Pokémon: Twilight Wings) and CoMix Wave Films (Weathering with You). There’s currently a Chinese version available, with the Japanese version to follow, but you can still appreciate the commercial’s beautiful animated take on Hong Kong below.
Other staff members on the CM include animation director Yojiro Aari (Penguin Highway), background art director Tasuku Watanabe (Your Name.), concept artist Mizutamari Higashi (Pokémon: Twilight Wings), color designer Misato Aida (Mary and the Witch’s Flower), director of photography Masao Shimizu (Karakuri Circus), and music writer Shinya Kiyozuka (Konodori drama).
