Just in time for spooky season comes the news that the horror-comedy manga Mieruko-chan is getting a live-action film adaptation. The film will be released in Japan in summer 2025.
It’ll star Nanoka Hara, whose voice will be familiar to fans of Suzume, and who also appears in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Oshi no Ko.
Directing is Yoshihiro Nakamura, who may be best known for helming Fish Story.
The Mieruko-chan manga, written by Tomoki Izumi, launched in 2018 and was turned into an anime series in 2021. Here’s how Yen Press, which releases the English version of the manga, describes it:
One day, Miko suddenly started seeing grotesque beings that others couldn’t. Her response was not to run, not to face them, but to do everything she can to completely ignore them! Can she keep a straight face and continue her day-to-day life while surrounded by horrifying monsters?
