A new anime is getting ready to take a hot dip into history with the announcement of a Hikuidori (Fire Eater) adaptation. Based on the historical novel by Shogo Imamura and its upcoming manga adaptation by Shujin Riku‘s Shinobu Seguchi, the Hikuidori anime is planned for a Winter 2026 premiere.
Details are relatively sparse at the moment, but SynergySP (Hayate the Combat Butler) is handling animation production and you can see a teaser with optional English subtitles below.

The story comes from the novel series Ushuboro Tobigumi, which launched in 2017 and has since been collected in 12 volumes.
