Goodbye, Lara was one of two original anime projects Kinema Citrus announced back in May 2024, and now it has a window in place for its debut. The series will premiere in 2026, with Hana Hishikawa voicing the mermaid Lara.

Here’s the new visual, as well as a character visual featuring Lara in mermaid form.
Goodbye, Lara is a modern-day-Japan take on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale The Little Mermaid. The anime is being directed and storyboarded by Takushi Koide, with Shiori Tani handling character designs. The project is part of the celebration of the studio’s 15th anniversary.
