Takashi Imashiro’s Ghost Cat Anzu recently inspired a film from Shinei Animation and France’s Miyu Productions, and now it’s getting ready to debut in North American theaters. GKIDS shared the latest preview ahead of its premiere, offering up another look at the co-production with English subtitles.

The feature originally opened in Japan on July 19, and North American screenings are set to kick off on November 15.

Yoko Kuno and Nobuhiro Yamashita direct, with Shinji Imaoka on the script, Yoko Kuno on character designs and Julien De Man as art director and color key artist. Keiichi Suzuki composed the film’s music, and Chiaki Sato (A.S.A.B) performs “Matatabi” as its theme song.

Karin, 11 years old, is abandoned by her father at her grandfather’s house, the monk of a small town in the Japanese countryside. Her grandfather asks Anzu, his jovial and helpful although rather capricious ghost cat, to look after her. The meeting of their strong characters causes sparks, at least at the beginning…
