This weekend FUNimation announced and launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new English dub for The Vision of Escaflowne anime, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The goal is to raise $150,000 for the dub, and it’s well on its way, with $75k+ raised at the time of this writing and 31 days left to go.
Once the campaign concludes FUNimation plans to release the director’s cut of Escaflowne on Blu-ray along with scenes that weren’t available as part of Bandai Entertainment’s previous dubbed version. A successful campaign also means the same new dub treatment will be applied to Escaflowne: The Movie.
