Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu

Kuzushiro’s Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu manga is a series all about the ups and downs of working in the manga industry, and it’s officially getting an anime adaptation. Plans were first revealed on the wraparound band of the ninth volume of the manga, which just hit shelves in Japan, and author Kuzushiro shared the above illustration to celebrate.

Details are light, but so far we know the anime is being produced at Voil and planned for a 2025 premiere.

Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu follows rookie shojo manga artist Nana Futami, who works closely with editor Kaede Sato and assistant Mizuki Hazama. She claims she suffers from an occupational illness that causes intense delusions, but even through that she’s able to continue working each day thanks to the support of those around her.

The Egao no Taenai Shokuba Desu manga first launched as a one-shot in Kodansha’s Kiss magazine back in February 2019, with a serialized version following in Kodansha’s Comic Days app and site in May 2019.

Stay tuned for more details as they’re announced!
