Conan and Mission: Impossible Team Up for Ad Campaign

Conan and Mission: Impossible Team Up for Ad CampaignSquint, and they’re kinda sorta similar: the Detective Conan crew and Mission: Impossible’s IMF both solve crimes, employ fast vehicles, and have iconic theme songs, right? More importantly for the purposes of this story, they both have films out at about the same time in Japan. The latest Conan film just came out (and has already made tons of yen) and the final Mission film is soon to hit Japanese theaters.

Hence this new ad campaign, in which Conan’s Detective Mori is drawn in the style of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt on the poster for Final Reckoning.

The copy on the M:I poster reads: “Trust me. This is my final request,” while the Conan poster reads: “Watch me. This is my greatest adventure,” referring to the fact that Mori plays a bigger role in the latest Conan film, One-eyed Flashback, than in most films in the franchise.

Additionally, there’s a video released today in which Rikiya Koyama as Mori describes what to look out for in each respective film. He also notes that the first Mission film came out the first year as the TV anime version of Conan went on air.

By the way, Tom Cruise was in Tokyo the other day to promote M:I, so that’s cool.
