Get ready for a new “culture shock comedy,” because that’s what the Chibiham, Juicy & Me anime film has been promoted as ahead of its premiere in Japan. The feature follows the exploits of an American tourist with a larger than life personality, and it’s set to hit theaters in Japan on September 24.
Written and directed by Riki Ohkanda—an American director who has resided in Japan for over 20 years—and featuring motion capture animation, Chibiham, Juicy & Me stars Jennifer Lloyd in the lead alongside Shayna as Paprika, Mika Hijii as Juicy, Nao Iwasawa as Derumo, Dai Ohyama as Kintama and Akiko Iwase as Mama.
Other staff members include producer Ryo Nakajima and character designer Katsuyuki Iwasaki, with music production by The Kyoto Connection.
In Chibiham, Juicy & Me, Paprika is an American exchange student in Japan on a “home stay.” Together with her friend Juicy, she has to deal with the arrival of her annoying cousin Chibiham, who aims to have a good time during her visit but is totally oblivious to cultural differences between herself and the Japanese locals.
