Check Out the Anime Film Selection at NYICFF

Normally my goal is to avoid theaters that are explicitly loaded with children at all costs, but I may have to make an exception for some of the showings at this year’s New York International Children’s Film Festival.

In association with New York-Tokyo, NYICFF is showcasing a handful of interesting Japanese animated features. The festival kicks off on Friday, February 26 and runs through March 21 so, barring sell-outs, there’s plenty of time to give some or all of these a gander.

All of the following are US premieres: Mamoru Hosoda’s Summer Wars, Sunao Katabuchi’s Mai Mai Miracle (check out our review here), Shinsuke Sato’s Oblivion Island, Yasuhiro Yoshiura’s Time of Eve, and Iwaisawa Kenji’s Man in the Tunnel Alley.

For more info on the films, including showtimes and tickets, head to this page. Anyone planning on seeing any of these during their festival run?
