E.X. Troopers is a cool Lost Planet spin-off due out on an odd pair of consoles in Japan: Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 3. With it, Capcom essentially takes the world of Lost Planet and gives it a manga-style spin, with cel-shaded graphics and a third-person shooting style fit for both newcomers and veterans. Unfortunately, Capcom currently has no plans to bring it to the west.
This disappointing bit of news came about while Christian Svensson, Capcom VP of Software, was answering questions on upcoming games on the Capcom-Unity forums. His response when asked about E.X. Troopers:
“No because EX Troopers isn’t part of the LP series officially (thus the difference in name) nor are there plans to bring it Westward at this time.”
Hopefully Capcom will change their mind at some point, because E.X. Troopers looks like a ton of fun. Here’s the latest promo for the 3DS version:
E.X. Troopers is due out in Japan on November 22.
