Aoashi Manga to End at 40 Volumes

Yugo Kobayashi’s Aoashi manga has its ending in sight. As announced via the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the series, the manga will end with the Barcelona arc, closing out with a total of 40 volumes.

Kobayashi thanked fans in a message presented in English and French, adding “I will do my best to put all my enthusiasm into the next two volumes, so please stick with me until the end.” Kobayashi went on to thank readers for the growth of the manga, which launched in the pages of Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in January 2015.

The series also inspired a TV anime, which kicked off in April 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the adaptation as it aired and describes it like so:

Aoashi Plot

After a loss in his last junior high school soccer tourney, Ehime Prefecture’s ace player, Ashito Aoi, is devastated but in every loss there’s a victory. Tatsuya Fukuda, manager of an organization that trains students for one of the leading clubs in the J-League, sees Ashito’s raw talent and offers a tryout to his group. Together they’ll bring the youth club and Aoshi’s talents to new heights!
