Sometimes even the most wholesome of résumés can be turned upside down by a few questionable roles. That’s what recently happened to singer/songwriter Rekka Katakiri, who had a concert scheduled at a church in Tokyo’s Shinjuku Ward. Once the church took a closer look at her previous contributions to the otaku world, however, they decided to cancel the event.
While Katakiri is known for songs in anime like When They Cry: Higurashi, Kokoro Connect, My Wife is the Student Council President, and Shin Koihime Musou, she has also been involved in themes for pornographic ero games. The church decided that her work with adult games didn’t fit the image of a holy facility like theirs, adding that not disclosing her full body of work was “tantamount to false representation.”
Katakiri said she had no intention of misrepresenting her career, and that it all boiled down to her linking the church to a website that primarily promotes her personal songs. Once they dug deeper beyond that, they soon discovered her erogame connection. As she detailed in a thread on Twitter, she regrets not being clearer in advance.

As inconvenient and worrying as the sudden cancelation may have been, thankfully this story has a happy ending. Katakiri is currently in talks with replacement venues, and the concert is still set to take place on the original date of March 16.
