Way back in 2022, we learned Pony Canyon and Bakken Record were producing an original anime about bowling called Turkey!. Now that series will finally see the light of day this July.
The series stars Hana Hishikawa as Mai Otonashi, Kana Ichinose as Rina Kodai, Haruki Iwata as Sayuri Ichinose, Yūki Tenma as Nozomi Mitake and Aya Saitō as Nanase Nikaidō.
It’s directed by Susumu Kudo (Momentary Lily) and written by live-action drama writer Naomi Hiruta, with character designs from Airi Takekawa (“Ippon” Again!), and music production handled by Pony Canyon and animation production from Bakken Record.
A Turkey!-themed bus was unveiled in Chikuma this weekend, and will be circling the town (while hopefully avoiding any strikes) to promote the series until its July debut.
The teaser video features English subtitles (click the CC button) and describes the plot as “a mystery that happened at the end of summer, something we keep secret from our parents and teachers.” Secret bowling, huh? Call me intrigued.
