You and Idol Precure is singing, dancing, and pleasing the crowd in a brand new season of magical girl adventure! This season’s Precure installment puts its heroines onstage, blending stardom with saving the world. And, like seasons prior, it also teaches important lessons about both life in general and its theme of choice.
Just a few episodes in, we’re getting an idea of this season’s trajectory. Join us as we peruse the early lessons this new magical girl adventure has for viewers of all ages!
Fan Etiquette
While the heroines of You and Idol Precure are magical idols, they’re also idol fans—as are the people around them. This provides an excellent opportunity to discuss how to be a fan: sharing your excitement while note crossing any lines. While we’re still early on, we’ve seen one regular example of fan etiquette thanks to team mascot Purirun. Her regular recordings of the Cures’ final attacks heighten their popularity… but Queen Pikarine reminds us never to take unsolicited recordings of idols!
At the center of the girls’ school life is a growing research club dedicated to Idol Precure. Considering just how close that club is to the real deals, it will be interesting to see how mundane life and idol life collide. Especially considering one of the most excited students, Kokoro, is on track to fill out the team as its third member.
Idol Responsibilities
The main responsibility of the magical girls of You and Idol Precure is… well… saving the world. But as their popularity grows, so does their demand. Fortunately, their new manager Tanaka is there to help them manage both the world-saving and the business side of things. And, as Uta and Nana learned recently, being an idol can be scary sometimes!
It’s not all singing, dancing, and pleasing the crowd. Sometimes you have to get up in front of cameras, recite ad copy, or do other things that make you nervous. Fortunately, the girls are already learning ways to cope with the more nerve-wracking aspects of the job. It’s a good reminder to aspiring idols out there that it can be hard, sometimes anxiety-inducing, work.
The Heart of an Idol
One of the biggest lessons already evident in You and Idol Precure is that you don’t have to be an idol to touch people’s hearts. Before she became Cure Idol, Uta was already using her cheerful singing voice to put a smile on people’s faces. Yes, being an idol lets you connect with others around you and bring them happiness… but we all have opportunities every day to do that already.
Each Precure has their own crowd-pleasing move: an idol smile, a wink, or a kyun-kyun pose. In the same way, we all have our own ways of brightening the lives of those around us. It can be flashy, but it doesn’t have to be. We can be “idols” in our everyday lives, using our passions and talents to make the world a brighter, happier place.
