About the Authors

Kamudo

The artist behind Kamudo, Akira Himekawa, is actually two people: the two-woman team of “A Honda” and “S Nagano.” The pair have worked together since 1991, never revealing their real names to the public. And while they have several titles under their belts, there are a few in particular that will stand out to fans.

Past works include tie-in manga for Nazca, Legend of Crystania, and the 2003 Astro Boy. However, Himekawa are likely best known for their manga adaptations of several Legend of Zelda games. Starting with Ocarina of Time in 1998, they have adapted eight games in total into manga. Their most recent was 2016’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which ran in Shogakukan’s MangaONE until 2022. If that sounds intriguing, you can grab it in English!

A Magical New World

The Demi-Dragons

The world of Kamudo is brand new, but Zelda fans will feel right at home in this setting. This world is populated by demi-creatures—notably demi-dragons, but also races based on cattle, wolves, and monkeys. Dragons received their life magic, or “pulse,” from a dragon goddess named Ryusui. But it seems her end is nigh, and she has bade her people look for a sign of what’s to come.

As the manga begins, a festival is underway. New dragon babies are hatching, but some from outside are eager to get their paws on a dragon egg. Or, rather, they’re eager to get the money they could sell it for. Fortunately, the final egg is allowed to hatch before it can be stolen. However…

Something New

A strange new baby

The new baby is unlike anything ever seen before in this world. While it has some draconic and animal features, it is strangely hairless and scaleless. In other words… humans have come to be. This strange, unfortunate creature is named Kamudo. And his birth is the sign the dragons have been warned of.

So what happens next? That’s where the first installment leaves off. Start reading now, and follow Kamudo’s adventures as they happen!
