Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days manga has been a success since it first launched in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump back in November 2020, and now it’s making the leap to another format. It’s probably not the one you’re thinking of, but it’s at least nice to know that the series is doing well enough to spawn a novel adaptation.
The novel of Sakamoto Days is set to launch in Japan sometime around spring 2023, and will include an exclusive story.
There are currently two million copies of the manga in circulation, with VIZ Media and MANGA Plus handling digital publishing duties in English. VIZ also releases the series in print, describing it like so:
Taro Sakamoto was the ultimate assassin, feared by villains and admired by hitmen. But one day…he fell in love! Retirement, marriage, fatherhood and then… Sakamoto gained weight! The chubby guy who runs the neighborhood store is actually a former legendary hitman! Can he protect his family from danger? Get ready to experience a new kind of action comedy series!
