Japan’s beloved dimension-hopping robot cat Doraemon is about to take flight with Nobita and the rest of the gang for their 42nd theatrical anime film. While details are light at the moment, Doraemon: Nobita to Sora no Utopia (Nobita and Utopia in the Sky) is currently penciled in for a March 2023 debut in Japan.
The only story tidbit we have is that Nobita and his friends will go on a grand adventure in a perfect world in the sky known as Utopia. Takumi Doyama, who has helmed many episodes of the Doraemon TV anime, is directing a Doraemon film for the first time, and Ryota Kosawa (GREAT PRETENDER) is handling the screenplay.

Ryota Kosawa commented on the project:
“Doraemon is a great treasure left behind by the extraordinary genius, and I would be honored to join the last seat of the many wonderful creators who have kept it alive. I decided to go on an adventure again and worked hard to write it for us then and for the children of today. I hope you will join Nobita, Doraemon and the others on this great adventure in the sky and be excited and thrilled by it.”
