The fellas over at Same Hat are now officially the recipient of our coveted Internet Super Sleuthing award. It seems like a no-brainer, but this upcoming Drawn & Quarterly release was unearthed via a simple Amazon listing discovery. Now that you all know one of web searching’s greatest secrets, I trust you’ll honor it and use it only in the name of justice.
Oji Suzuki’s work falls in the gekiga (dramatic pictures) genre, and has been featured prominently in Garo, the Japanese alternative manga anthology about which Ed Chavez has written quite a bit on this very site. As a collection, Red Kimono debuted in Japan in 1985, so it bursting onto the North American comics scene has been quite a long time coming.
Anyone interested in learning more about Suzuki is urged to check out the source link below. They even threw up some samples of his work if you want a better idea of what to expect in the artwork department. Red Kimono is due for release on March 16, 2010.
