I hope some of you are doing this as we speak, and by “this” I am of course referring to Crunchyroll’s recent announcement of more Toei titles on their video service. The titles in question are both from the Leiji Matsumoto family of far-flung space entertainment, and are some of the best examples of classic anime you’re likely to find for free (and pay-to-download) online.
The two Matsumoto-created series are Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock, and they can be watched streaming for free in varying levels of quality. Anyone feeling generous also has the Download-to-own option, as mentioned before, which will find your pockets $1.99 lighter per episode. If you’re hankering for a blast from the late 70s there’s no better place to start than here, and I’ll even do some of the work for you to get you going:
