My Wife Has No Emotion Manga Goes on Hiatus Due to Author’s Personal Stress

my wife has no emotion

Jiro Sugiura’s My Wife Has No Emotion manga is currently enjoying an anime adaptation as part of the summer 2024 season. While that runs, the author announced that the manga will be going on hiatus due to the stress of his personal life.

As Sugiura announced, as his life has become more stressful, he has dealt with problems such as hair loss, and the overall stress has made it more difficult to draw. As such, the manga will be taking a break until his personal life settles a bit.

Sugiura apologized to My Wife Has No Emotion fans looking forward to reading more, but noted that he will work on storyboards as he comes up with them. He hopes to start drawing again when things have improved.

The series first kicked off in the pages of Kadokawa’s Comic Flapper magazine back in 2019, and the eighth collected volume is due out in Japan on September 21, 2024. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English and sums up the story:

My Wife Has No Emotion Plot

Takuma is a single guy who does nothing but go to work and come home. Too tired to do chores, he decides to get a robot to cook and keep house. “Mina-chan” is such a good housekeeper, Takuma jokes that she should become his wife. Mina takes Takuma’s joke seriously, and slowly the two start doing more things together, like having a picnic outside. As time goes by, Takuma starts to fall for Mina, but can a human and a robot ever have an equal, loving relationship?
