In a world where game and entertainment news is constantly being pumped out before our very eyes, it's almost shocking when something slips by unannounced. Such is more or less the case with Blaster Master Overdrive, a revival of Sunsoft's classic NES title via Nintendo's WiiWare service.

This isn't the first time Blaster Master has attempted a comeback, but it's certainly more low-key than one would expect. Hopefully word gets out, because this brand new entry looks way more palatable than that awful Playstation One game, and appears to more successfully mimic the style of the original. Now... about that remixed music. I guess nothing's perfect.

This particular offering will run you 1,000 Wii Points (ten bucks). Other games featured today include Tomena Sanner, Bloons, and Hubert The Teddy Bear Winter Games.

If you're itching for DSiWare titles, Oscar in Movieland, Link 'n' Launch, Fieldrunners, Sudoku 4Pockets, and Extreme Hangman are your soup du jour.

Alas, the cheese that is Virtual Console once again stands alone this week, making me wonder if I should change the name of this moderately infrequent burst of info. If you absolutely must have the NES release in question, consider Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom yours. I think I rented that one back in the day, but I'd have to travel back in time to let you know how truly mediocre it is.
